[CW:BLOG] RSVP For NLGJA Travel Camp

NLGJA Travel Camp
Sunday, August 24, 2008
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel

How do you picture the life of a travel writer? Jet setting off to exotic locations? Nights dining in five-star restaurants before sinking into an equally five-star bed? Or do you think of lost luggage, airport screening lines and wandering the streets trying to find that club so hip it refuses to have a sign out front? Hear what travel writing is really like and try your hand at NLGJA’s Travel Camp.

Join award-winning travel writer Michael Luongo for a special NLGJA Career Watch training at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Participants are invited to bring photos and other memorabilia from a recent trip you might want to write about. Bring a notepad for in-session mini-assignments.

This opportunity is open to all NLGJA members. Registration to NLGJA Goes to Washington, our 2008 National Convention & 5th Annual LGBT Media Summit, is not required but advance registration for this event is needed. The registration deadline is Friday, August 15, 2008.

The event will be held Sunday, August 24, from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, which is located at 1330 Maryland Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. A special discount to “Bubbles & Brunch” in the hotel’s CafĂ© MoZU is also available for registered Travel Camp participants.

Please contact Tom Avila at tavila@nlgja.org or 202-588-9888, ext. 17 to reserve space at this event.
